Civic Holiday Resources
Educators will have access to creative resources and strategies to help schools commemorate the semiquincentennial through national holidays and find engaging ways for students to reflect on history, civic identity, and the meaning of key milestones.
Professional Development
Civic Spirit will begin offering America at 250 professional development workshops for educators, covering topics such as patriotism, historical leaders, overcoming polarization, curating the American story, and guiding students in personal civic reflection. Participants will gain practical tools to bring engaging and meaningful civic learning into their classrooms.
We the Educators
This school year, We the Educators will commemorate America at 250 by celebrating our nation’s anniversary through the lens of civic milestones. Special programming around national holidays, including MLK Day, Constitution Day, and Presidents Day, as well as the meaning of patriotism today, will invite educators to reflect on America’s impact and progress while equipping them with resources to bring these commemorations meaningfully into their classrooms.

Civic Spirit Clubs
Through Civic Spirit Clubs, students take action to solve challenges in their communities and explore what America’s 250th means to their local and state community through learning and leadership with their peers and wider school population.
Civic Spirit Day
Our Civic Spirit Day programs for high school and middle school students will explore different aspects of America’s 250th, giving students opportunities to learn, reflect, and engage with students from other schools, as they examine the history, values, and future of our nation.
Student Design Challenge
Middle and high school students are invited to design a new symbol for America at 250. Registered schools receive classroom resources to introduce the challenge.
Public Programming
The 250 to 250 Campaign
Starting on October 27, Civic Spirit will be posting a day-by-day journey through every year of American history. From the Declaration of Independence in 1776 to the Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026, each post will spotlight a defining moment, person, or civic idea from that year, revealing how our nation’s story has unfolded and how its founding ideals continue to shape, inform, and inspire our country today. We the People
We will offer lectures and classes on the significance of the Semiquincentennial and the role of civic education in our nation's future. Join us in January for a month-long series with Professor Jonathan Sarna on "Independence and Its Implications: Jews in America Over 250 Years", where we will examine how freedom, identity, and belonging have shaped Jewish life in America from its founding to today. Run in partnership with the Community Scholar Program, this series is open to learners of all ages.
